The Cranbrook United Prayer Chain

Cranbrook United Church believes in the power of prayer and that prayer fellowship of women and men that this is an important ministry. Each Sunday, after we acknowledge our “Prayers of the People”, those requests then go to this group and your minister who we are committed to continue to prayer throughout the week for these people.

“Three Cups of Tea”

Thursdays  2:00 – 4:00 pm

In Greg Mortenson’s book “Three Cups of Tea” he quotes; “The first cup of tea you are a stranger, the second cup of tea you are friends and the third cup of tea you are family.”  This is my vision for the Thursday, 2:00-4:00 group.

Cindy Stevely, with the help of Carol Patton, would like to create a time, place and environment for fellowship, laughter, inspiring conversation, support, education and enlightenment.  The format will be flexible but will always begin with prayer and a devotional that will tie in with the day’s content, tea of course (coffee for those who prefer), snack and a closing prayer.  Some suggestions are:

  • Guest speakers from the College regarding available adult education
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Crafts
  • Health updates and general information
  • Music entertainment and singing
  • Travel information
  • Yoga and other fitness techniques
  • The benefits of naturopathic methods ( i.e. Chinese medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic techniques)
  • Story telling
  • Outreach

So what do you think?  Sounds exciting : ) Be sure to mark it on your calendar and see you there!
