Sunday School

Sunday School

Sunday School is happening with Kathy Hagman the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. Registration is officially on our “Welcome Sunday” in September .  Sunday School will be offered to children from ages 2 to 12 years .  All children are invited to join for this time of stories, crafts, and games.  The children spend the first 15 minutes in the sanctuary with their parents.  Following “Community Time” , the children proceed downstairs with adult supervision for the remainder of the service.

As Sunday School happens twice a month, Kathy has created a special place for the children at the front of the church where they can feel at home on every Sunday. They are welcome to go there anytime during the service and choose one of the many activities there for them. They are welcome to work on their selected project at the workspace in front or take it back to their pew. We want our children to know we welcome and appreciate them.

Please consider volunteering for those Sundays when Kathy can’t be there. Easy to follow materials can be provided or perhaps you have a special gift or talent you would like to share with our younger people such as baking or woodwork–all are gifts from God that can be shared.

If you would like to register your child, have questions about the Sunday School program, or would like to receive any specific information, please contact Kathy Hagman at 250.489.0170.

Child minding service is also available for infants on the first and third Sundays; however, we would appreciate advance notice of need if possible.

Sunday School Special Events

On the  first Sunday School of the Fall.  We invite the children to participate in this Welcome Back Service in several ways by bringing one or two Fall flowers to church on this day, fairly long-stemmed please.  The flowers can be interesting, fresh or dried, found growing wild nearby your home, a small branch of colorful fall leaves, a flower or two from your own flower beds, or a flower or two from a local supermarket.  Before the service, all the flowers will be put together in a big vase and placed at the front of the church for the enjoyment of all.

In November  is the UCW Tea, Bazaar, and Bake Sale.  There will be a children’s recycling table and a fish pond.  To enable that, the older children and/or parents are invited to be the helpers.  Please contact Kathy Hagman if you can assist.

November has a Children’s Sunday. There will be a “Dessert First” pot luck lunch following the service. We would appreciate desserts that kids like with worthwhile food values.  Please keep in mind that we do have “NUT ALLEGIES”, so we request nut free goodies.  Following a course of “Dessert First”, we will then have several soups as well as sandwiches and finger food.    Advent calendars will be distributed.  Families and adults are invited to make an Advent wreath following the lunch. If you are interested, please contact Kathy Hagman, so she can arrange the necessary supplies.   250.489.0170.   A small fee will apply for the materials.

November  is The Santa Claus Parade and Light Up Downtown. The Sunday School would like to take part in the event.  Anyone interested in helping, or anyone  please contact Kathy.  250.489.0170.

December  the Intergenerational Christmas Pageant, involves everyone and is a very inspirational and fun occasion.  Don’t miss it.

2011-2012 Sunday School  Session draws to a close end of May, 1st Sunday in June.  We often acknowledge it with a Sunday Service and Picnic in Rotary Park.
